I often see videos online titled “What People Are Wearing in [Insert City]”, and I’m always in awe of the people in the video. I try not to become jealous, but how can I not? The people in these videos are the definition of cool. Lately, I’ve been wondering how I can emulate the coolness of these outfits, and I realized that there are two things that all of them have in common. The outfits focus on layering and accessorizing. I’ve come up with a couple ways to elevate my outfits with the incoming heat, and outlined them below. Hopefully, they can help you all as well.
Stack Your Jewelry
Without fail, everyday I throw gold hoops and studs on my ears, but that’s where I end. Sometimes, I’ll add a necklace, but lately I haven’t even done that. I need to kick it up a notch, but still keep the impending summer heat in mind. This summer, I want to try stacking necklaces and bracelets. For example, alongside my staple pendant necklaces I can put on a light chain. Additionally, I’ll try wearing bracelets like light bangles. The key for jewelry this summer is LIGHT. I don’t want anything that will weigh me down.
Shorts Under Dress
This is very 2000s for me, but I feel like it’d be cute to pair jean shorts with a mini dress. I like mini dresses, but I don’t like how aware I have to be when wearing them. One wrong move, and I’m flashing everyone around me. For a day to day look, I can front tuck the mini dress or any dress really in my shorts. By doing this, it makes my look more interesting, and it’s more practical.
Linens Are Your Go To
Anytime you’re shopping for summer, prioritize buying linen items. Linens are wonderful fabric for summer because they’re light and breathable. I typically see linen pants and tops when I’m shopping, but linen shawls have been popping up here and there as well. A linen shawl would look really chic wrapped over a tank top.
Fun Lightweight Socks
My last tip is swapping my white socks for cuter lightweight socks. Old Navy sells cute ones that aren’t too thick. Socks like these can make your looks less simple while also preventing a puddle of sweat from forming in your shoes. A little comment I have is that mesh socks aren’t as stretchy as cotton or cotton blend socks so be prepared for that.
Thank you all for reading this week’s post. I hope you found the tips helpful especially this summer. Make sure to subscribe to be notified of new ones. Stay sharp π
