I feel like I’ve always waited on people for their time or for them to change. Giving them 2nd, 3rd, sometimes 4th chances even after they’ve shown me their true colors. I want you all to understand that some people just aren’t going to change. Some people do change, but still, stop waiting for them to make that change. You shouldn’t hope that a person will become better. They should be better now.
The Switch
I was a part of this club in high school that had a lot of potential but because of the people in leadership, members never really got to contribute anything. Each year I kept coming back thinking the club would get better, but it never did. The beginning of senior year I decided that it was time to let it go. If the club wasn’t going to change, then it was time for me to say my goodbyes and leave for good.
After I left, I was a little worried that I would regret my decision, but making that decision was one of the best things I did for myself that semester. I no longer had to go pointless meetings, I could put my energy in other clubs I was a part of, and I stopped feeling like I was a part of an ineffective club.
My New Mindset
Now that I’m in college, I’ve made it my goal to stop waiting on people to change. I only have four years in college, so I’m going to make it the best four years of my life. Let’s hope manifestation comes into play.
This year, I’m going to be pickier with the clubs I join, the causes I support, and the people I surround myself with. I don’t want people to keep wasting my time
I don’t want you all to think that I’m being harsh, but I want to do what’s best for me because I’m tired of being disappointed.
