Whether you’re dealing with school, work, family, whatever, breathe and do something for yourself. Go to holiday event in your city, get your favorite holiday treat, or maybe just take a nap. Do what works best for you. Happy Holidays! Stay sharp π
If You Have a Flaky, Dry Scalp, THIS is the Product For You
When I was around 11 years old, my scalp started to become extremely dry and flaky out of the blue. I had absolutely no idea how to to deal with it. I tried hair oils, shampoos, apple cider vinegar, just about everything under the sun. Whenever I wore black, I always felt so insecure. The flakes would get all over my shoulder, and I would have to embarrassingly dust them off my shoulders. A couple months ago I was about to lose all hope on my dry scalp, then I decided I would try one more product. I scoured Youtube, and found some videos reviewing a shampoo that wold eventually change the health of my scalp: Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo.
Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo is an over the counter shampoo, but it’s still extremely effective. What sets it apart from other anti-dandruff shampoos is that it has Ketoconazole 1%. Keoconazole 1% is used to treat infections caused by fungus or yeast like dandruff which is often caused by the yeastlike fungus malassezia.1 This shampoo is gently, but still quite effective in cleansing the scalp specifically flaky, dry scalps. This shampoo allowed me to go from seeing flakes on my shoulders everyday, to never even feeling an itch on my scalp. It was a total 180 in such a short period of time. Here’s exactly how I used the shampoo with my braids.
Steps for Using Shampoo Properly on a Dry Scalp
- Before beginning to wash my hair, I use a comb to gently bring up the flakes from my scalp.
- In the shower, I wet my scalp profusely with warm water.
- Then, I scrub the shampoo into the individual parts on my scalp. This usually takes me some time because I really try to get into every nook and cranny.
- After this first scrub, I rinse out the shampoo.
- I do a second scrub, but instead I just put the shampoo all over my scalp at once. This wash is usually more sudsy which lets me know that my scalp is clean.
- Next, I squeeze out as much from the braids to help with drying. I use a towel to gently pat my scalp dry and I tie my hair up in it.
- After about 15 minutes, I take the towel down, and oil my scalp with a rosemary mint hair oil. I also use a hair mousse to get braids looking fresh and shiny.
- I usually air dry my hair, but I’ll blow dry the end of my braids to quicken the process.
I use this shampoo about every 2 weeks, and since I started using it, I’ve seen little to no flakes. It’s also made my scalp so much healthier which has made my hair grow. This shampoo is an absolute game changer. I totally recommend checking it out, if you have no idea how to treat your dry scalp.

How to Pick the Best Boots for You this Season
Hello everyone! I know itβs been a couple weeks, and Iβm so sorry for that. With the election, school, and life in general, I havenβt had enough time to write an article that I felt was worth posting. This week though, I feel like I had finally had an idea I felt was worth writing about. This article is all about boots.
Have you guys been feeling that chill in the air? Do you feel that sense of promise fluttering around you? Itβs the holiday season, and also boots season. Surprisingly, I donβt own any right now, and I really want to get a couple pairs that will last me, and Iβll find comfortable. Below are some of the criteria Iβll be using when looking for new boots that I thought you all might find informational.
Criteria for Buying New Boots
- My number one criteria for when Iβm looking for new boots this season is to avoid anything impractical. Nothing with a pointy toe and nothing with a skinny heel. I know I know. Boots like these look killer on, but at the same time, theyβll also kill your feet. Iβve always had foot issues all my life, and I donβt want that exacerbated by a shoe thatβll squeeze my toes and give me ankle pain. If you really want a pair with a pointy toe, I recommend really taking the time to break them in and additionally not wearing them for hours on end.
- This boots season itβs all about the leather. Iβm avoiding suede because they are so annoying to clean. Suede in general is annoying to clean. You donβt want them to get wet or youβll get water marks, and the color fades with time. If any of you feel inclined to buy a suede boot, try looking for black suede boots. Stains arenβt as visible on them, and therefore you wonβt be as worried about getting them dirty.
- Itβs rounded toes and square toes only for me this season. I want to give my toes some room to breathe, and these toe shapes will allow me to do this. Additionally, these toe shapes will allow me to wear my boots for longer periods of time with limited amounts of pain.
- Block heels only. I know I want a boot with a little height, but no stiletto heels. They are painful to walk in and impractical for everyday wear. Since I donβt have ankles like Zendaya, Iβll be sticking to my block heels. It’s just a bit more practical for me when walking around campus. When Iβm in pain, I get irritated. No one needs to see that.
I havenβt really been able to try on any knee high boots, but I do have a recommendation for ankle boots. The 1460 Ambasador Lace Boots from Doc Martens. I tried these boots on in store, and they are amazing. The store manager at Doc Martens told me that since theyβre made from a softer leather, they donβt take as long to break in. If youβre a first time Doc Martens buyer like me, theyβll be perfect for you. These boots will last you many upon many boots seasons.

How do want the 2024 Presidential Election to go down in history?
Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a lovely week, and if you didn’t, I hope that you do next week. Before I begin this week’s post, I want to apologize for not posting last week. There were so many assignments I had to get done for school, and I didn’t have time to write anything worth posting. From now on, I’m going to try to post every week, but Organic Chemistry is no joke. It really does take up your entire life.
Anyways, this week’s post is all about Election Day. If you didn’t know, Election Day is this Tuesday on November 5th, and we all have a role to play on Election Day, especially this one. I’ve recently come to terms with the fact that this election won’t just effect the United States’ political and economic agenda for the next four years. The outcome of this election will probably affect that agenda for the next decade or two. Each candidate has ideas and objectives that will lead to a massive paradigm shift in the US and US relations with other countries.
I say these things because I want you all to grasp how important it is to vote in this election. Though Kamala Harris has a slight lead in the polls, it’s still pretty neck and neck in many of the swing states. We can’t just hope and pray she wins. We actually have to get to the polls and vote.
For those who haven’t voted yet, I urge you all to not lose hope. You can still vote early in person today and the rest of this weekend in most states. If you are in possession of your absentee ballot, still mail it out. USPS is working hard this year to get ballots delivered to election officials on time. This year, USPS has delivered inbound ballots within 1 day, so don’t lose hope. Send out your ballots this weekend. Even if your ballot isn’t received on time, at least you tried.
Additionally, if you are a college student, it’s okay if you missed the absentee ballot deadline. You may be able to vote in your college’s state by showing proof of residency.
If you can’t get off work on Election Day, please try to vote before work, after work, or even during lunch. A lot of the polls open at 7 am and close at 7 pm. As long as you’re in line by 7 pm, you should be able to vote.
Also, don’t wear yourself out on Election Day. There’s only so much you as an individual can do, and there’s no point in stressing yourself out. If you need to, go to bed early on Tuesday. The outcome won’t change whether you choose or don’t choose to wait for the results.
Lastly, I want to say that no matter what you’ve heard, the power in in our hands this election. Because of how close it’s going to be we need everyone who can vote to vote. As we’ve seen around the world, voting is privilege and we are extremely lucky to have this right in the US.
Thank you for reading this week’s article. Make sure to vote by the time polls close on Tuesday. Stay sharp π
October 18th, 2024
This past week Iβve felt like Iβve been missing something, but I canβt put my finger on it. For some reason I donβt feel anxious, or like I have something really important I need to do by a specific deadline. Itβs weird that since Iβve been in college, when I donβt feel stressed, I question it. I need to stop doing that, and remind myself that life isnβt about finding the stress, but the joy in it.
Thatβs all for this weekβs post. Make sure to subscribe to be notified of new ones. Stay sharp π
Going to a Concert by Myself is the Best Decision I’ve Ever Made
One of my manifestations for 2024 was to go to a concert, and in the summer I got an email from Spotify notifying me that one of my favorite bands was coming to town. The band Infinity Song was stopping in DC for the world tour, and tickets were only $30. My eyes almost bursted out of my head from the shockingly low price. I knew I had to buy tickets for this tour because I can tell they’re growing in popularity. By their next tour, tickets will probably be at least 3 times the price.
At the time, I wasn’t sure I was ready to go to a concert by myself, so I asked some of my friends in our group chat, and crickets. None of them even bothered to answer except for a “sorry don’t know who they are”. I was in complete disbelief that with group chat this big, no one knew Infinity Song. Either way, I decided that my lack of friends interested in a soft rock family band, was not going to stop me from going to this concert. On June 30th, 2024, I impulsively purchased 1 ticket for the DC Infinity Song concert for $32.19. I know right. A steal.
As I was days away from the concert, 3 main things were on my mind. I was going alone. I was not familiar with that area of DC. Most importantly, it was on a school night. There were so many times when I wanted to resell my ticket, but I ultimately decided not to. This was one my chance to see an amazing band, and I needed to take that chance.
The moment I walked into the concert venue I felt so at peace and safe. It was a pretty small venue, and the concert was sold out, so I was worried that I would have no room to breathe. Surprisingly, the room felt very warm, inviting, and intimate rather than tight and sweaty.
Turns out that there were actually people I knew from school there, so I got to hang out with them throughout the concert which was assuring. Now, the band themselves were absolutely amazing. Not many artists can recreate the sound they recorded in the studio, but Infinity Song does and sounds just a tiny bit better somehow. I feel like I can hear the harmonies better and their voices are more raw and emotional. The opener was amazing, but for some reason, I can’t find her anywhere. Once I do, I will be dropping a link to her Spotify account, so you can all listen to her. She really killed it.
During the concert, the band was so engaged with the crowd, and their set was perfect. Every song led into the next, and no song felt out of place. To top it off, they even signed the tote bag I bought which I know have on display in dorm room. All in all, I had a grand ole time.
This experience has taught me that I have to stop waiting on other people to enjoy your life. Iβm so glad I didnβt back out of the concert because I had the time of my life. Donβt let the fear going somewhere alone stop you from doing what you really want to do. Life is too short to wait around for people.
Also, here’s a link to the band, so you can listen to their incredible music.
Thank you all for reading this weeks post. I hope it encouraged some of you to finally do something on your bucket list even if it means doing it alone. Make sure to subscribe to be notified of new posts. Stay sharp π
A Brand to Watch Out For: Paula Canovas Del Vas
For this week’s article, I wanted to do something a little different. Paris Fashion Week just ended, and instead of showcasing multiple brands, I’m highlighting one brand and going into a deep dive on their looks and pieces. To be fair, I picked a house that I’ve never heard of, so that I can give my raw first impressions of what they have to offer. For the Spring/Summer 2025 Paris Fashion Week, I have chosen to focus on Paula Canovas Del Vas. Let’s begin.
To give some context, Paula Canovas Del Vas was born in southern Spain, and is part Argentinian. She currently resides in Shoreditch, London. and received her bachelor’s and master’s from Central Saint Martins. Growing up, Del Vas was influenced greatly by her mother and grandmother who she viewed as very strong powerful women.
The Looks
From this season’s collection, I’m definitely getting a fun 80s vibe from it overall, but there are also hints of this decade with the styling and makeup.

For this first look, I really liked the drama of the creme cape over the model’s head, and how it seamlessly flows into the dress. The bubble skirt and definition on the shoulders remind me a lot of dresses from the 80s, but not as loud. The piece remains very elegant as well with boat neckline, and would be the perfect wedding dress.

I’m really in love with these jeans. The exposed zipper, tulle on the pockets, and the color fit seamlessly. I need them in my closet now. The silver portion doesn’t really complement the rest of the look that well, but I still like it. I imagine it would look gorgeous on top of a black strapless gown. Can you see it because I can.

For this look, this top really fascinates me. It looks like 2 ruched pillows sewn together and I’m here for it. If I could wear this top, I’d probably style it with a white turtleneck underneath, my hair up in some sort of bun, some loose grey jeans, and heeled sandals.

Lately, I’ve felt very drawn to hairpieces for some reason. I don’t wear them often, but some, like this one, have been calling my name recently. Actually, when I look closely, these might be earrings. Either way, if one were to style these earrings, they would be the focal point of the look. The floral and metallic details are something Del Vas carries throughout the collection and I like what’s she done with it here. The earrings aren’t being overpowered by other parts of the outfit.
Overall Conclusions
Through writing this article, I’ve kind of fallen in love with the Paula Canovas Del Vas brand. It’s nice to see a newer house thrive. From glancing at her past collections, it’s obvious she has grown as a designer over the years. I can’t wait to watch her journey and see next season’s looks.

We’re One Month In and It’s felt like Three
Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a great day/week. It’s been about a month into the school year, so I just wanted to do a little check in with you all. Even though it’s only been a month, it’s felt like three. I feel like I’ve done enough stuff for three months in only one, and I’m feeling it.
If any of you all are feeling this way, that’s totally normal. What I recommend for you all is to check in on yourselves. At the end of every week, think back and see how your mood changed through out it. Were you anxious at all? What gave you excitement? Why did your week end the way it did? How can you be more in control the upcoming week?
As we continue on with the rest of the school year or just the rest of the year, remember that we must take care of ourselves. Nevertheless, we are humans that need rest and to be cared for regularly.
I wish you all well this next week. Also, wish me luck today. I have an orgo test, and I’m going to need all the help I can get.

My Most Adored Looks from the 2024 Emmys
Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful day. For this week’s post, I wanted to show you all what my favorite looks were from the 2024 Emmys and why they were my favorite looks. Before we begin all of that, I wanted to shine a light on all of the winners this year. A special shoutout goes to the ShΕgun cast and crew as this show won 18 total Emmys including Primetime and Creative Arts. Go y’all for breaking history and showcasing Japanese history to an audience out of Japan.
Now, overall the red carpet looks for the Emmys were very strong this year, but there were some ones I couldn’t keep my eyes off.

Quinta Brunson
Wearing: Georges Chakra, Tiffany & Co. Jewelry
I found this look so unique, because you don’t see this fabric outside of the runway. Also, I love how the dress moves with her. Every photo is going to look a little different based on the angle of the camera, and how she positions herself in front of the light. It’s a dress you have to document on a video not just photos.

Anna Sawai
Wearing: Vera Wang and Cartier Jewelry
I love the shape and construction of the sweetheart neckline. The drop waist peplum skirt on this mermaid style gown is just absolutely gorgeous on Sawai. In addition, her makeup is perfect for her. It accentuates her cheekbones and full lips, while also being very light and soft. Also, congratulations to Ms. Anna Sawai for winning Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the 2024 Emmys. The first Japanese actress to do so.

Christine Baranski
Wearing: Oscar de La Renta
The fabric of this gown is absolutely gorgeous in the light. It looks like liquid gold that has been molded on her body. Baranski looks elegant, regal, and refined. Something that should be on every red carpet.

Aja Naomi King
Wearing: Giambattista Valli Haute Couture
She looks like a rose in bloom. King would have worn this to the Met Gala, and would’ve easily made any best dressed list. I love the silver necklace and makeup as well. Her look is very cool toned, but she’s still glowing. Stunning.

Alan Cumming
Wearing: Teddy Vonranson
I love the nod to his heritage, as well as how the plaid peaks in and out of the blazer. Additionally, he’s serving face in the fiercest way.

Tyler James Williams
Wearing: Dolce and Gabbana and Tiffany & Co. Jewelry
His stylist did their JOB with this one. The look is a great juxtaposition of strong and delicate. His defined biceps are one focus, but the simple and soft jewelry tones it down a little.

Kurumi Nakata
Wearing: A Second Hand Kimono from Fukufuku Shinjuku
Her traditional dress is just something you don’t see at the Emmys. I love that she didn’t try to wear something to get the approval of the West. She stayed true to her roots and told a story through her kimono.

Abby Elliot
Wearing: Monique Lhuillier
It’s a very simple gown and silhouette, but it looks just darling on her. She’s the epitome of Spring, and I’m here for it. Elliot’s a reminder that not every look has to be world shattering. It can just stand amongst the crowd and be timeless.

It’s Time you Stopped Popping your Pimples
Hello everyone! Today’s article is going to be very short and sweet (shout out to Sabrina Carpenter). Have you ever gotten a really irritating pimple on your face? I have one right now, and it hurts even with the lightest touch. It’s red, annoying, and downright painful. You may be thinking that I should just wait until the pus reaches the surface, and pop that sucker. No. You’re wrong. I will admit that watching a pimple pop can be satisfying, but I absolutely do not recommend you continue popping your pimples for many reasons.
Number 1. When you pop your pimple, you greatly increase the chances of scarring your face. I would know. Back in the day(last summer), I used to pop my pimples, and I always got the darkest scars. They would take months to fade. Some scars can even take over a year to fade. I know for a fact that none of you all want to be walking around with a red or dark brown splotch on your face for months, so stop popping your pimples.
Number 2. If you pop them too early, your skin can start bleeding. It’s not fun wearing a bandaid on your face, so don’t pop. I beg.
Number 3. There are other, more effective ways to deal with your pimple such as using pimple patches.
Pimple patches are your best friend when it comes to skincare. They’re always there for you, reassuring, and are your go to gal. Pimple patches are typically made of hydrocolloid, a gel-forming material. The hydrocolloid material sucks all of the excess fluid from the pimple and creates a moist environment so the skin can heal and not scar.
How to Apply a Pimple Patch Properly
- Apply them right after washing your faces when your skin is dry.
- You can also do it after moisturizing. You’ll just need to clean the area of the pimple so the skin is less slick.
- Apply the pimple patch ensuring that the barrier of patch is really adhered to skin. Lightly press the borders of the patch with your finger.
- Let the patch sit overnight. I’ve noticed it works best when you’re not prone to touching it.
- Remove in the morning and look at all the gunk it pulled out. This is the satisfying part.
My favorite patches are these ones from Peach Slices. They’re extremely affordable, lightweight, and effective.

I hope you all enjoyed this week’s article and learned a new method for dealing with pimples. Make sure to subscribe to be notified of new posts. Stay sharp π
