I’ve been in college for about 3 months. It’s been challenging, fun, enlightening, and entertaining all at once. Though I’m having a lot of fun, I still get little sprouts of nostalgia. I miss my friends, my bed, but I also miss being a kid a lot. The time in my life when I didn’t have as many responsibilities.
As you can tell, since being at college I’ve been reminiscing a lot. Sometimes when I’m walking to class I’ll randomly remember some funny memory about my friends or from when I was a kid. When these memories hit me, I feel a little glum, and find it hard to stay in the moment.
Lately, as a way to connect back to my childhood, I’ve been watching a lot of Victorious and iCarly. (You probably just felt some nostalgia and had some distant memories come back to you.) Almost everyday, when I’m eating or taking a break from my homework, I pop open my laptop, log into Netflix, and click on the iCarly or Victorious icons. Even after a decade, these shows still hold up. Most of the time, the humor on these shows is so random and nonsensical, but it’s still so funny. I loved when they did the iCarly and Victorious crossover. It was the height of television to me at 7 years old.
When the shows were on the air, I was in elementary school, which is insane to think about because I’m 19 now. I watched these TV shows when they first aired on TV and now I’m rewatching them on Netflix.
This week I want you guys to go on Netflix or whatever streaming service you like and watch an old TV show from your youth. You’ll have a good laugh, feel nostalgic, and take a little break.
Lastly, I want to add that the Victorious soundtrack still eats. If you don’t believe me listen to “Take a Hint” with Victoria Justice and Elizabeth Gillies.
