After a grueling first semester, I’m finally on break people. This semester has been a tough one, and because of that I’ve barely had time to focus on my hobbies like fashion design. Thus, this week I’ve designed three pieces that would be perfect for a holiday party. Below I will explain my vision for each look.
Look #1
This first look came to me when I was walking to class one day, and I got this random thought. “What if I designed a dress that looked like a present?” So I did. For the base of the dress I was thinking a flamingo colored pink and for the bow I was thinking a cool toned blush pink. On the top and bottom hemlines of the dress I wanted to add some dark fuchsia beading, and then to finish off the entire dress it would be covered in silver glitter. This dress would be perfect for a little Christmas party. Imagine it. You’re at a party wearing this dress, and your favorite holiday song comes on. You rush to the dance floor and start dancing. The lights are shining, your dress is sparkling, and all eyes are on you. You’re having a main character moment.
To really complete the look, I was thinking of adding some silver heels and maybe even some colored tights. The colored tights are a little risky, but isn’t that what fashion is all about.
Look #2
For this next look, the sketch isn’t the best, but just hear me out. My vision was a black sequined halter neck top with the sequins being really big. Also, for clarification, that white part is supposed to be where the light is hitting the sequins.
I got the inspiration for this look when I was walking down a hill on my campus, and I got this idea for a holiday perfume campaign. In the campaign, the model would be wearing this top, with a matching blazer and pant set. In the shot, the model is walking down the hill while simultaneously saying perfume’s slogan, and the set is very Christmasey and has some red accents.
This sequined top would be great for any holiday party whether it’s for a Christmas party or for a New Year’s Eve party. It’s really versatile and depending on the weather in one’s location is warmer or cooler it could be worn with or without a jacket. Because the top is so simple, the makeup is what’s going to make to look shine. I imagine a nice cat eye, a bold lip, and fierce brows.
Look #3
For this look, I was thinking Winter Wonderland. This dress would be perfect for a gala that is that is taking place during the holiday season/wintertime. The silhouette for this gown is an asymmetrical neckline, an a-line skirt and a bell sleeve. The dress would have baby blue lining with matching baby blue tulle fabric for the outer shell. Then on the outer shell there would be faux pearls, silver beading, and of course silver glitter.
Out of all three looks, I feel like this dress this dress is the least Christmasey, so I feel like it could be worn for something other than a holiday party.
That’s it for this week’s article. I hope you all enjoyed my sketches and maybe got some inspiration for your upcoming holiday gatherings. Please make sure to subscribe to be notified of new posts. Happy holidays and stay sharp π
