Having smooth skin is such a satisfying feeling. When you give yourself a hug, it’s comforting to feel warm smooth skin. Now, a lot of people think that by just moisturizing your body every day, you’ll get smooth, bouncy skin. They’re only halfway there though. The key to having smooth skin is exfoliating.
It feels like everyday I’m seeing some new beauty tip I “have” to try. I need to buy a red light therapy mask to prevent fine lines, or I have to change my entire diet if I want my skin to be clear. It’s constantly in our faces all over Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok. In this post, I don’t want you all to feel forced to buy yourself some expensive new product or change your entire routine. I just want to teach you a simple way to improve what you’re doing now.
There are many benefits to exfoliating your skin, so here are a few.
1. Reduces Acne
By exfoliating regularly, you’re reducing the chance of dead skin, dirt, and grime, from clogging your pores. If you have bacne or chest acne, gently exfoliating may help decrease its presence.
2. Unclogs Pores
By exfoliating, you can unclog your pores which allows your moisturizer to seep in and actually do its job.
3. Makes You Feel Clean
By exfoliating regularly, you can get rid of all of the dead skin and bacteria sitting on your skin which will allow you to feel extremely clean.
4. Increases Collagen Production
Through exfoliating, this increases collagen production over time by removing older layers of skin and revealing fresh ones.
When you want to exfoliate, I recommend doing it in the shower after letting your skin soak in the hot water for a bit. Never exfoliate completely dry because you increase your risk of irritating your skin. Below are 2 affordable towels I recommend for exfoliating. The first one can be found on Amazon, and the second at Walmart. Both are great, but the former is a little more effective.
If you have oily skin, try to exfoliate everyday or every other day. For normal skin, 2 to 3 times a week. For sensitive skin, once a week to start then build from there.
Just to clarify, this tutorial is in regards to one’s skin on their body not their face. Please don’t rub an exfoliating washcloth on your face unless you want to start bleeding.
Thank you all for reading this week’s post. I hope you add this simple extra tip to your body care routine if you feel so compelled. Make sure to subscribe to be notified of new posts. Stay sharp 😉
