Hello everyone! I’m sorry that I didn’t post an article last week. I wasn’t feeling very inspired, and I would rather not post, then post something I’m not proud of. Anyways, this summer I’ve been doing a ton of reading, and I wanted to share some of my favorite summer reads thus far. Now, let’s dive into it.

1. Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
This book is perfect for any woman who has ever felt like it’s impossible to succeed in their male-dominanted field. The main character Elizabeth Zott faces obstacle after obstacle in her journey toto becoming a chemist, and it’s so admirable. Lessons in Chemistry is a book everyone should read even if you’re not a chemist or woman. There’s a reason it was Barnes and Noble’s 2022 Book of the Year, and that reason is why you need to get this book and watch the show featuring the talented Brie Larson.
2. Summer of ’69 by Elin Hilderbrand
Summer of ‘69 is the perfect summer read. The book is about a family’s yearly vacation to Nantucket during the tumultuous summer of 1969. It’s the summer everything changes for the four siblings of the Levin family. Astronauts are flying to the moon, the Vietnam War rages on, and family secrets are unearthed throughout these memorable 3 months. The one thing holding this family together is the love they share, and their unending support for one another.
3. My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows
In real life, Lady Jane Grey is known as the woman who was Queen of England for nine days and then executed. In My Lady Jane, Jane Grey’s story is given a rewrite. She uses her short lived opportunity as queen to promote equality in England and unite her people. To add some flair, the authors threw in a little magic to keep readers on their toes. The show is extremely funny as well if you’re looking for a quick binge before summer ends.
4. Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross
There are many many tropes found in romance books, but have you heard of the anonymous rivals to lovers trope? Imagine this, 2 rivals fighting for the same job at their newspaper, but are anonymously writing letters to each other. The kicker though is that only one of them thinks it’s anonymous. The other one knows who they’re writing the letters to, and both are slowly falling in love with each other. On top of that, there’s some fantasy, a war between Gods, and beautifully written love letters. What else could a girl ask for?
I hope you all consider reading one of these summer reads on my list. I promise that if you do you won’t be disappointed. You’ll be in for a satisfying story with complex characters.
