Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great week. I know I did. This has been the first week in months where I haven’t been perpetually exhausted. Not having school is so nice. Anyways, I know I’m a little late, but I wanted to highlight my favorite looks from the 2024 Met Gala for you all.
Here’s some context. This year’s theme was “The Garden of Time” which was inspired by J.G. Ballard’s short story of the same name. There were many different interpretations of the theme this year, and they were all great, but there were some in particular that really stood out to me. Look down below to see.
To preface, this is in no way shape or form a “best dressed” list; it’s merely a collection of some looks that I found well done. All of the looks this year were expertly created and styled, but in the sea of looks, these ones stood out to me. I applaud all of the designers, stylists, and creatives involved in this year’s gala. They have truly outdone themselves this year.

I won’t go into detail to explain why I like each look, but I will say the main reason I was drawn to all of these looks is the craftsmanship, creativity, and overall styling. Each outfit has a unique story that I found mesmerizing.
My Design
Inspired by this year’s Met Gala theme, I decided to design my own gown. It’s a little rough, but the idea is essentially that overtime flowers rot and decay either because of improper care or because of the fact that all things eventually wither and die with time. The neckline of the gown starts out with fresh roses, and as you move down the dress, the roses start to brown and decay. At the same time petals fall off and eventually the roses turn to black as seen on the bottom hemline.
To style the dress, I was thinking of adding some of those really long wrap around bracelets on the arms that look like thorns. Then for the shoes, like the bracelets, I want horns wrapped around the straps of the heels too in a gladiator style. Lastly for the hair makeup, I’m envisioning really big fluffy hair, and glowy skin especially on the eyes.
