In the world of big fashion conglomerates, it’s important we shine a light on smaller brands, so that they can remain in the game. Today I want to shine a light on Fumi the Label. Fumi the Label was founded by Fumi Egbon in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. Even with a global lockdown, she pushed and her brand is still here today. At first glance, it’s obvious her the clothes are made to inapire confidence within the person wearing them. They help inspire confidence through shape, color, and the effortlessness they evoke.

The brand definetely focuses on skirts and dresses which I love. The skirts and dresses seem really moldable so they will be able to fit many shapes well. Now let’s dig into some pieces from the brand that caught my eye.

I just love a gown. I did a whole article on this earlier, but I love when a gown was made with the details in mind. For this gown in particular, the loose ruffles attached at the hips of the dress create this shape that’s constantly changing as the dress moves. Additionally, the gradient from lilac on top to the deep purple at the bottom hem adds another layer to the look. This dress would look so good with the hair up in a bun and some burnt orange strappy heels. The combination of the purple and the orange reminds me of sunset colors and would pair well against the sun at golden hour.

This bralette and skirt set screams sunshine. The warmth of the yellow reminds me of the warmth of the sun as you step outside from being indoors. I like how the asymmetrical ribbing on the top half adds some shape and hugs the curves well, but the bottom pleats make the model appear taller. To style this set, I honestly wouldn’t do too much because the set speaks for itself. All you really need is some glowy makeup and some small gold earrings.

Whenever I’m buying clothes, I always try to think of multiple ways I can style them to determine their versatility. With this set, I envision at least 3 different outfits. The sleekness of this skirt set makes it a great addition for the office. The sweater with some slacks is simple and professional. The skirt with a plain white tee would be great for a day out. To style the set, I’m imagining a light gold chain around the neck, and a sleek, but not stiff, bob for their hair
